Mouth watering is what comes to mind to describe my new favorite way to prepare chicken. You will be craving this meal for days to come and it’s so easy you might just have to make it again! Continue reading
A simple salad always seems like a no brainer, until you find yourself staring into your fridge saying, there’s nothing to eat! That’s when I’m glad we do our weekly farmers market run. This salad was thrown together haphazardly one night when I needed an extra side to fill up plates at a small dinner party I was having. Although it does take some prep, it’s very easy to make. And let me tell you, it was a hit. More importantly it was a hit with my main squeeze, and that’s why I call this Jonny’s Salad.
There is a new grown up restaurant in Silver Lake! Lucky Duck is the latest offering from the folks behind Square One. First thing first, this place is beautiful! The interior is reminiscent of a New York Bistro with a dash of Eastside hip. Picture an intimate dining experience featuring New American style food using seasonal produce in approachable ways.
What I ate: Crudo, New York Steak, and Cauliflower
The steak has been on my mind for the last week. Perfectly cooked with parsley and bone marrow, if you eat meat I know your mouth is watering! All dishes were delicious and I can’t wait to go back and try more. And lucky for us locals they will be opening for brunch next month!

Thanks to the internet and an encouraging boyfriend the task of making beets for the first time was no task at all. These vegetables roast easily and make a fine edition to any meal.
This delicious beet and heirloom tomato salad was a hit! Continue reading
Living within walking distance to a farmers market has made my desire to cook fresh and easy meals that much greater. This chicken, avocado, and lime soup was inspired by a recipe I found on Pintrest and I have to say I am completely in awe of how delicious it turned out. My boyfriend and I both agree this needs to become part of the regular repertoire around here! And the best part is it’s an excellent dish for a small dinner party! Continue reading
Winter is here and although I’m nowhere near as cold as my friends in the East I do find a warm bowl of soup to be rather cozy. Using all fresh ingredients from the farmers market I made this delicious ginger soup (almost) from scratch. It’s so easy anyone can do it! Read on for step by step instructions with photos! Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I am beyond ready to divulge in some gluttony! I’d like to state now that I am not only thankful for friends, family, and you dear reader, but that I am beyond grateful for chic drawstring pants and billowy sweaters.
Todays What to Eat Wednesday features the recipes for my three favorite sides to gobble gobble down on Turkey Day. Enjoy!
Looking for a spot with a little island flare and flavor? Then Roy Choi has created the dining experience for you. At Sunny Spot in Venice you will find an awesome ambiance (great patio and decor) and a deliciously thought out Caribbean inspired menu with a cocktail list (created by Brian Butler) to match. The jerk chicken is literally like vacation on a plate, pair it with a cocktail from the rum bar and you will feel like you’ve been transported to paradise.
