If you, like thousands of others, are traveling home for the holidays I have the perfect travel outfit for you!  The simple truth is when it comes to the outfit we travel in we at least want comfort, warmth, and a dash of chicness.  This outfit combo allows you to pull all of that off and leaves you with classic pieces to mix into your holiday weekend wardrobe. A Better Bed…

Via Pintrest

Make sure to clean your sheets frequently in hot water to assure that dust mites and other allergens don’t make your bed their home.  And surprisingly you shouldn’t make your bed all the time!  Ongoing research from London suggests that leaving sheets open to the air dries them out, depriving dust mites of the humidity they need to survive!

Good Reads…

brooklynlovestories
Jenny Bahn plucks at our heart strings with a collection of short stories about love, love lost, and love that was never there in her first published book Brooklyn Love Stories.
‘Follow the joyously miserable love lives of one dozen twentysomethings living in New York City — Brooklyn, to be precise. From pretty girls to broke musicians, everyone’s having a time of it. Each story serves as a brief glimpse in the heart of a relationship. Witness bad dates, weird sex, charmed beginnings. Commiserate with subway-induced nervous breakdowns. Watch a burned-out relationship deteriorate and fall away, and then find out if they’ve managed to pick up the pieces. These are Brooklyn Love Stories.’

Eat:

Momofuku Noodle Bar

This popular Japanese Ramen bar usually has a long wait, but it is worth it!

Definitely try the Momofuku Ramen and the Brisket Buns

Address: 171 1st Ave, New York, NY 10003

Phone:(212) 777-7773

Smorgasburg

Smorgasburg happens in two locations every weekend: Saturdays at East River State Park—Kent Ave. and N. 7 St.—on the Williamsburg waterfront; and Sundays on the DUMBO waterfront at the historic Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Both locations are open from 11am to 6pm, and feature packaged and prepared foods, beverages, and more from purveyors from New York City and across the region, for a total of 75-100 vendors. The markets are always open rain or shine.

I can honestly say I tried about 6 different things, from a buffalo chicken sandwich smothered with bleu cheese to a caramel ice cream push pop that was to die for.  Go early, bring your friends, and get ready to eat your heart out!

Harry Cipriani

This uptown  establishment is a definite go to even if it’s just to indulge in the famous Cipriani’s Belini and my personal favorite the vanilla meringue cake.

Address: 781 5th Avenue

(between 59th & 60th Streets)

New York, New York 10022

Do:

Bike to Brooklyn

Biking through the city was surprisingly easy and once you hit the Williamsburg bridge you have a safe bike lane free of cars and pedestrians.

Rent bikes from here.

Rowing on Central Park Lake

This was by far the most romantic daytime activity I’ve ever done in NYC.  Renting a row-boat at The Loeb Boathouse is easy and affordable.  There are 100 rowboats to rent everyday for $20 and hour.  Enjoy the city views as you’ve never seen them before.

Shop:
